Description
Create unbelievable FM synthesizer patches with ease and flexibility with the Korg opsix mkII, an altered digital FM synthesizer that features a true 6-operator sound generator with a diversity of waveforms and operator modes that go far beyond the realm of standard FM. The opsix mkII has been updated with a 64-voice architecture and features the editing simplicity of analog synthesis to control the power of the FM engine.

There are six sets of knobs and sliders on the opsix mkII panel, each with bicolor LEDs, which help you quickly and clearly see the relationships between operators, whose roles change with each algorithm. Make direct changes to the pitch and volume for carriers, brightness of the sound, and strength of the harmonics for the modulators. These controls give you sonic control over the unpredictability of FM just by subtracting and adding sounds as if you were using a mixer or drawbars. The opsix mkII ships with a power supply and includes a free bundle of music software.

opsix Evolved

opsix mkII has 64 voices, double the original's 32 voices. You can enjoy tone editing without worrying about the number of polyphony. In addition, the operator/mixer section, which is the most distinctive feature of this product, has been given a new image color of green as an accent.

Color Coded Operator Mixer

The simple opsix mkII operator mixer, consisting of six faders and knobs, is at the heart of every sound. Each part lights up in red to represent the carrier, and in blue to represent the modulator. Manipulating these will open up new sound creation possibilities and breathe new life into your musical ideas. This easy-to-understand practical workflow is as much a part of opsix mkII's uniqueness as the sound it delivers.

Intuitive Control

  • Whether you're fine-tuning a preset sound or building a patch from scratch, the six knobs on the right give you quick access to the parameters you need. It is seamlessly synchronized with the display, so you can clearly define the direction of your workflow. Combined with the operator mixer, you can create new sounds easily and above all, have fun.
  • Choose from a wide range of analog-style filters to add a vintage feel to your sound—from the sharp KORG MS-20 low-pass/high-pass filter to the powerful and smooth KORG Polysix lowpass filter. There are also 2-pole and 4-pole low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, and band-reject filters, with resonance.
  • It has a built-in spectrum analyzer and oscilloscope, allowing you to visually check the tone you are creating through the screen.

Six Types of Synthesis Consolidated into One

At its core, opsix is nothing but exponential. Waveforms can be arranged and modulated in an almost infinite number of ways, making it easy to create sounds similar to many types of synthesis.

Subtractive

  • Achieve many cutting-edge and classic analog synth tones using up to six envelopes and multimodeling filters.

Semi-Modular

  • Change the tone by changing the signal path. Changing the algorithm can dramatically change the sound by changing the connection routing between operators. No patch cable is needed then.

Analog (Modeling)

  • With an operating system similar to an analog synth and a rich variety of waveforms, you can quickly master everything from digital to analog sounds. Enjoy a variety of sounds such as deep bass, crisp leads, thick pad sounds, and fuzzy brass tones.

Waveshaping

  • By intentionally adding distortion to the waveform, aggressive overtones such as harmonics or dissonances can be achieved. This allows you to achieve a unique and hard tone.

Additive

  • By layering waveforms and blending their harmonics, you can create a variety of expressions such as harmony, dissonance, and high-tension sounds. With 6 operators available, you can also go back in time to create classic sounds from the history of FM sound sources.

Classic FM

  • opsix's flexible and powerful architecture begins with a true 6-operator FM. The result is an easy way to recreate the signature sounds you've heard on thousands of hit songs from the '80s to today.

In this way, opsix mkII is able to achieve sounds worthy of being called a future modern classic synthesizer.

Beyond FM

opsix mkII is FM-based, but its similarities with classical synthesis extend beyond that. Altered FM architecture offers a far wider variety of sounds than any previous synthesis, with new waveforms, filters, shaping, effects, and new sound components such as LFOs, envelopes, modulation, and more.

Powerful Effects

opsix mkII has 3 blocks of 30 high-quality effects that can be used in combination to further improve your sound. Korg included everything from easy-to-use classic effects like chorus, phaser, delay, and compressor to rich reverb that will take your sound to the next level.

Advanced 16-Step Sequencer

  • The opsix mkII features an incredible step sequencer with the flexibility and power of a groovebox. Press the Play button on any sound to experience complex sequences. Every program has one sequence stored in it, and you can also create your own sequences.
  • You can record up to 6 notes per step, and edit each note's velocity, gate time, and playback timing. It is possible to perform long phrases, input with subtle timing shifts, and drum-roll-like performances that are impossible with a typical 16-step sequencer. Additionally, opsix's motion sequencer can record changes in up to six parameters, allowing you to smoothly change the sound within a phrase or create rhythms that change significantly with each step.

Monster Modulation Matrix

  • The modulation possibilities of opsix mkII are simply incredible. With 6 operator modes and 40 preset algorithms, plus the ability to create your own user algorithms, opsix creates dynamic sounds.
  • Get even more power with the processor. The MOD section operates separately from the operator and features 3 EGs, 3 LFOs, and 12 virtual patches with diverse routing possibilities. You can use these features to create swirling soundscapes, add rhythmic movement to your sounds, and perform a huge range of other modulations.

Throw the Dice

When you want to discover unexpected sounds, use the Randomize function. Pressing the button with the dice icon will completely change the synth's parameters and produce new, unique sounds. Randomize functions can be used for all parameters or only for operators, algorithms, and sequences.

Free Librarian Software

opsix Sound Librarian allows you to view and organize data from an opsix connected to your computer via USB, to exchange sound data between opsix mkII and your computer.

Free Music Software Bundle

opsix comes with a large amount of music software from the beginning, including Ozone Elements, which allows you to not only create songs but also master them using AI, and Skoove, which helps you improve your keyboard playing, as well as software and synths from Korg and other brands.

opsix native

  • opsix is ¿¿a digital synthesizer that provides hundreds of cutting-edge sounds to inspire your music production and experience intuitive customization at your fingertips.
  • The operator mixer that dramatically changes the characteristics of the sound, and the flexible sound engine that goes far beyond the realm of FM sound sources are symbolized by the word altered and are still available, while the software's unique user interface provides a bird's-eye view of all parameters and expands the potential of the synthesizer.
