Saburuko have been courted as a prime example of the new wave of drum and bass talent emerging across the globe. Formed in 2006 by Russell Knight and Edward Parker the widely acclaimed duo became a solo act in Jan 2008 with Russell keeping the good name of Saburuko prominent in the publics eye.
However, Russell played the integral role in ensuring the tracks that both he and Ed toiled over were in regularly in the A list DJ's box's. This resulted in numerous plays on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Kiss FM and a host of podcasts and internet radio shows worldwide. All the while he consistently appeared across the US, Canada and Europe blowing up dancefloors along the way.
With a long history of dj'ing both home and abroad Russell's career began in the days of house and techno and soon he became a regular face at some of Aberdeen's and indeed Scotland's leading nights. His transition through the genres helped develop a keen ear for all styles resulting in the diversity of productions Saburuko became to be known for.
Both Russell and Ed spent countless hours working together writing and producing every track and the end results of the partnership was them being signed exclusively to the Horizons Music Group that ultimately saw releases on Horizons, Progress, Crisis and the newest imprint Inside. Additionally their music found it's way onto labels such as Future Thinkin, Sonorous and the mighty Integral, as well as CD compilations and a very successful Drum and Bass Arena digital download.
As 2008 draws to a close, it's safe to say Saburuko is still very much alive. Russell took the time to finish a number of tracks he and Ed had started before he left, with 4 12 inches finding their way onto Inside and a couple of collaborations finding their way onto a Horizons album. 2009 looks very promising for Saburuko, taking his time to work on an album that's penciled in for the middle of the year and a couple of tours also that are also in the pipeline.
